A settlement reached between the City and County of Honolulu and (de) Occupy Honolulu was accepted for the record today at federal court by Judge Keven C. Chang.
According to statements in court by the attorneys, (de) Occupy and the city have agreed that the city will pay $1,000 to be divided among the plaintiffs. The individual defendants will be dismissed from the suit.
The plaintiffs were not present in court today to sign the agreement, but attorney Richard L. Holcomb stated that he had been granted authority from them to enter into the settlement. Based on representations from council, the judge accepted the settlement, and set June 30 as a deadline for the remaining loose ends to be tied up. Motions for attorneys fees will be due on July 14.
The settlement means that all future motions and a jury trial will be avoided.
