Plug for Kokua Council’s community forum today
by Larry Geller
Let me give a plug for Kokua Council's 10th Annual Community Forum, which takes place today at Harris Church at noon (optional lunch from11:30).
The forum will both alert the community to some of the issues of concern, and at the end there will be a vote to choose the most important issues, which Kokua Council will then use to set its advocacy priorities for 2014.
Speakers include:
Rep. Cynthia Thielen
Victor Geminiani, Hawaii Appleseed LEJ
Sen. Suzanne Chun Oakland
Paola Rodelas, Aikea Hawaii
Wes Lum, Executive Office on Aging
Henry Curtis, Life of the Land
Elizabeth Bethea, Elderly Affairs Division, C&C of Honolulu
Kathryn Xian
H. Doug Matsuoka
Bruce McCullough, Hawaii Alliance of Retired Americans
Scott Foster, on marriage equality legislation
Jim Shon
Laura Manis, for John McDermott on care home inspections
Larry Geller, on Mayor's Age-Friendly City Citizens Advisory Council
The first panel begins at noon at Harris United Methodist Church, Vineyard Blvd. & Nuuanu Ave. Plenty of free parking. Optional lunch with $5 donation.
