Ed Case announces retirement from political candidacy

In a broadcast email this afternoon, Ed Case indicated that he (likely) will not be a candidate for public office any more, because he’s joining Outrigger. A snip:
With this new path, I won't be a candidate for public office as long as I'm with Outrigger. Since I hope that's a long time, this likely ends any further political career. But I fully intend to continue to participate in the public life of our Hawai'i and country and look forward to those opportunities.

Once again Ed shows his smarts. He was smart when he identified the need to replace Sen. Akaka with new blood and start gaining seniority and now he shows smarts again by getting out of politics having been tainted for being smart the first time.
