The Al Jazeera video Food chain slaves is the first in a series on human trafficking. The video will run in sequence with other programming through Wednesday.

While the channel is not carried in Hawaii or on most of the Continent, it is popular in the rest of the world. Quite possibly Governor Abercrombie will be able to watch it from his hotel room in Japan, where he is on a tour to promote Hawaii in advance of the November Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit. He will not be pleased.

The video follows Thai farm workers from farms in the north of Thailand …

…  to Hawaii …

… to Aloun Farms …

… to the container where they reported that they lived, up to 20 workers per container …

The video then moves on to the upcoming Global Horizons case, that reportedly will be the largest human trafficking case in US history. It describes how workers were recruited for farms across the country …

The video includes a short interview with the Global Horizons President, Mordechai Orion …

… and recaps the situation of the Thai workers, unable to return or repay their debts.

But far from fulfilling their American dream, many end up in slave labour farms in Hawaii, California and Florida - unable to return home and working to pay off the debts they incurred in the pursuit of a better life for themselves and their families.
