Charges dismissed against two Waikiki protestors, but of course the police won anyway
by Larry Geller
Per Civil Beat,
The American Civil Liberties Union of Hawaii has confirmed that city prosecutors have dropped the case against Jamie and Tess Meier, who were cited for failing to obtain a permit before staging a topless gender-equality protest in Waikiki last month.
Of course the Meiers won, after expending unnecessary resources. And good job, ACLU and attorney Matthew Winter, from Davis Levin Livingston.
But the real winners were HPD. They stopped the protest, didn’t they? Mission accomplished.
There will be no consequences for their actions.
So they can do it again.
Even (especially?) during APEC.
