Oman? Where is that? Here’s a map
by Larry Geller
Tweets tonight indicate protests in Oman. A few days ago, Djibouti protests were reported, and Morocco was uneasy.
Where are these places? I thought it was about time I hauled out the old World Atlas to have a look. Umm, wait, no more Atlas, nowadays we use Google Maps. So here’s a map of the region. Click for larger image.
Ok, Oman is over there near the Arabian Sea. Next to Yemen, another place where the government is being opposed. If you’ve got Yemen, follow it down to the left corner, and there is Djibouti. Morocco is over on the left of the map, next to Algeria and Libya. Next is Egypt. And jumping over the puddle you’re in Saudi Arabia. I wonder if they’re sweating at all in Sauidi. Iraq, Iran and Afghanistan are nearby.
