Hawaii makes Top Ten list of foreclosures for third quarter as states forclosures surge

by Larry Geller

Hawaii was #10 out of the ten worst states for home foreclosures for the second quarter of 2010 and #9 for the month of September alone an a list compiled by Realty Track..

According to the report, released today, Hawaii foreclosures surged 18.3% over the second quarter of 2010, and 48.01% over the same quarter of 2009. The increase over Q2 was the second highest of any of the ten states on the list and the increase over the same quarter last year was the highest on the list..

For September foreclosures, Hawaii was #9 on the top ten list. Hawaii’s increase over September 2009 was 66.87%, the highest of any of the top ten.

Although the temporary foreclosure moratorium will put a dent in the numbers, it’s clear that foreclosures in Hawaii are surging at a rate beyond what is experienced by the worst states on the Mainland.
