Maui resident files challenge to nomination papers of Senator Robert Bunda
by Larry Geller
Maui resident Michael Howden today filed a challenge to the nomination papers of Senator Robert Bunda. His letter was also distributed to the media this afternoon.
The letter, sent to Chief Elections Officer Scott Nago, seeks a declaration that the nomination papers filed by Sen. Bunda are invalid because he failed to resign from his seat on the Senate, and so Bunda’s oath that he had resigned was not valid.
It appears that the Office of Elections is supposed to refer the matter to Circuit Court for a determination of the objection.
