Governor responds with resignation letters

by Larry Geller

The Governor’s office responded today to my request for resignation letters for candidates in the Lt. Governor race. The two I received were identical to the ones I posted on August 19. That is,

Bobby Bunda’s letter begins:

I am writing to inform you of my intent to resign my seat in the State Senate on July 16, 2010 and to file for ·the office of Lieutenant Governor.

Senator Gary Hooser’s letter begins:

As required by law in order to file and run for election to the Office of Lieutenant Governor, I hereby submit my resignation from the Hawaii State Senate effective immediately.

I’m still waiting for the reply that perhaps matters most, from Senate President Colleen Hanabusa.

Comments:

I doubt that the Senate President will respond.

What's the status of that "Bunda is not a candidate for LG" lawsuit, anyway?

Doug, the info I requested is a public record, I think she should respond.

The lawsuit -- no action yet, to the best of my knowledge.

Are you implying that Senator Hanabusa did not resign? Or are you just waiting?

The question is whether Sen. Bunda resigned.

Heh. One too many beers. Sorry.

I don't think Senator Hanabusa has to resign. IIRC, resign to run only applies to state and county offices.
