Lebanon may send boat to Gaza if it can raise funds
by Larry Geller
Less than twenty-four hours after the call of Hezbollah Secretary General Sayyed Hasan Nasrallah to increase the number of Freedom Flotillas, two groups in Lebanon launched a campaign on Saturday to raise funds to buy a ship that they hope can set sail from Lebanon for Gaza next week carrying educational supplies and journalists.
The non-governmental groups "Free Palestine Movement" and "Reporters Without Limits" said they hoped the boats would set off for the blockaded Gaza Strip at the end of next week. [South Lebanon (blog), Following Sayyed Nasrallah's Call, Lebanon Prepares Aid Boat, 6/5/2010]
Will numerous boats setting out for Gaza ultimately be effective in lifting the blockade, perhaps by keeping a public spotlight on Israel, or will the IDF simply swat each of them in turn, like annoying mosquitoes?
