Obama parties with his constituents tonight
by Larry Geller
A promising new newsletter from the Washington Post included this item on what President Obama will be doing today. How do they know? Beats me. Maybe the Prez has his own newsletter for Beltway insiders.
White House: President is watching the Gulf Coast, the developments with the attempted car bomb in New York, and the progress of financial regulation. He'll also be hosting a dinner for the Business Council, which bills itself as "an association of the Chief Executive Officers of the world's most important business enterprises." A quick glance at the executive committee turns up the CEOs of Caterpillar, Aetna, JP Morgan Chase, and Wellpoint, so it should be a spirited exchange.
There are more CEOs listed at the linked web pages than just the ones mentioned in this blurb, but it’s still an interesting list, and the writer leaves me with the impression that she/he is trying to say something by highlighting these few.
Caterpillar, of course, is the company that makes the special-purpose Caterpillar D9 bulldozers that Israel uses using to demolish Palestinian houses. One of them killed Rachel Corrie in 2003. Aetna and Wellpoint are health insurers, part of the club that so completely owns Obama and Congress that they got to guide their hands in writing a health insurance reform bill that will enrich themselves royally in coming years. And then, the representative of Wall Street in this list, JP Morgan Chase:
Just four days after the bailout, JPMorgan Chase’s chief executive, Jamie Dimon held the conference call during which an executive admitted that Chase has no intention to use the money to make new loans but instead will use it to try to take over other companies. [jonathanturley.org, JPMorgan Chase Executive Admits that Bailout Will Be Used Not To Make New Loans But to Buy Other Companies, 10/28/2008]
One thing I have no doubt of: Obama and his buddies will have a great time at dinner tonight even as across the country ordinary Americans are being thrown out of their homes and losing their jobs. Chow down, Obama.
Obama continues to disappoint! Evidently crime does pay...a dinner at the White House with the President..tradition continues....at the expense of the Constitution and human decency!
