Senate to hold hearing, take testimony, on Friday Furloughs
by Larry Geller
Two senators have formed a committee and will be holding hearings on approaches to teacher furloughs. Senator Brian Taniguchi (Chair) and Senator Will Espero (Vice Chair) will convene the hearing on Friday, October 30 at 12:30 p.m. in the State Capitol Auditorium, “to receive public input regarding the options available to address the issue of teacher furloughs and the loss of instructional days in our public schools.” Testimony will be limited to four minutes per person.
Here is the hearing notice, including instructions for submitting testimony.
By the date of the hearing, Judge David Ezra may possibly have ruled on whether to enjoin the DOE from holding further Friday Furloughs.
Listen also to Town Square the evening before, Thursday, November 5, 5-6 p.m. on KIPO 89.3 FM for a discussion on the teacher furloughs.
