Hawaii hotel photo fakeouts

by Larry Geller

Ever stay at a hotel based on the pics in their slick brochure or web page, only to find that the reality was, well, not up to what was advertised?

The Oyster Blog is doing something about it—check out The Oyster’s Photo Fakeouts. A number of Hawaii hotels are featured in recent posts.

Some seem to me not terribly important, for example, a different room than is pictured. One has the wrong beach photo. But the idea is good. One fakes an ocean view by snapping from so far back in the room that the buildings across the street don’t show.

We are all citizen journalists now. So if you travel and are disappointed by the unphotoshopped reality, why not post your experience for those who may come after you.
