House will vote on removing campaign contribution limits on Wednesday
by Larry Geller
HB539, the bill that would open the floodgates to corporate campaign contributions in Hawaii, has been deferred until tomorrow for its floor vote.
I’ll post the votes here as soon as they are available.
Since the bill was fast-tracked with only a single referral (to the Judiciary Committee), it now needs only its second and then third reading on the House floor before going to the Senate.
You can still weigh in with an email to your senator or to all senators at reps@capitol.hawaii.gov. Or, join the “stop the tsunami” action to kill this bill.
Ooops… in an earlier version of this article, rushing before leaving the house, I had it as the Senate voting. Sorry. It’s the House. So this is a fix.
