Kickin Back with the Oil Palm Guy
Snippet:
On a fun note, an ally of ours is coming out to the farm on Saturday - Dr. William Steiner, Dean of UH Hilo's College of Agriculture, Forestry and Natural Resources. Bill is involved in a very interesting experiment bringing in oil palm seeds from Costa Rica to do research for potential alternative fuel production in Hawaii. We will be hosting a one-acre test plot for Bill and his university students to plant and monitor in order to collect data on the viability of this crop here on the Big Island. So we're pretty excited about the opportunity to work with Bill and to support his project as a collaboration on the land.
