Pilot safe after ditching F-15 over water--air show should respect danger of these planes
Good that the pilot did so well in that F-15 crash yesterday. He was able to walk off the helicopter that brought him to Queens Hospital.
My second thought was that if a jet had gone down over populated Honolulu during that air show last year, the outcome would not have been very good (see earlier article.)
After flying over Waikiki Beach, the jets returned over the ridge line, which is packed with homes. Had there been trouble, a whole neighborhood could have been ignited in flames.
I checked afterwards with the FAA which said that the flight path was permitted.
It shouldn't be, IMHO. The planes could return over water. Those are dangerous and fallible war machines loaded with flammable fuel.
